GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association) All-State Chorus 2016
Event Date: February 25 – 27, 2016
Location: Classic Center, Athens, Georgia
This event is open to anyone in the choral department who pays the $18 application fee. The application fee is paid to GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association). Checks should be made out to MCA and we will cut one check to GMEA for the application. Fee is due by September 14th to Mr. Bowers.
You must rehearse with Mr. Bowers at least once a week to prepare for the audition. Rehearsals will be before and/or after school, starting date to be announced. You may begin rehearsing once you have paid the application fee.
Depending on the number of students who apply, there could be a cut off at the school level before the actual audition.
The first round of All-State auditions will be held on November 14. Location is Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Georgia. You must have your own ride to audition – Milton does not supply transportation. You must reserve the entire day for the audition. Audition times are not assigned until a week or two before the event. NOTE: If you are in need of a special time that day (morning or afternoon), I must know when you pay your application fee so that I may request your special time.
If you pass the first audition, there is a second audition on January 21st at North Springs High School. This is a Thursday night. You must be available for this date and the Inclement Weather date (February 14), in case the first date is snowed out. There are no excused absences from these auditions.
If you make the All-State Chorus, you and your family are responsible for getting you to Athens, GA for the actual event on March 5-7. This includes making your own hotel reservations, as well as transportation to and from.

GMEA District V Honor Chorus 2015
Event Date: October 30 & October 31, 2015
Where: Location to be announced
There is a $25 fee to participate in District Honor Chorus. The students also will need food money for the 2 days and transportation to and from the venue. We usually carpool down both days.
A minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 12 students are chosen by the director from the pool of interested students. I must take balanced quartets for this event. Depending on the number of interested students, an audition may be needed to determine who attends District Honor Chorus. Please turn in interest forms to Mr. Bowers prior to September 12th.

ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) National Conference 2016
Event Date: March 9 – 12, 2016
Where: Chattanooga, TN
The American Choral Directors Association sponsors honor choruses each year that meet in conjunction with their conventions. The conventions are held in various cities across the United States while alternating between Regional and National conventions. 2016 is a Regional Convention year.
There is a $30 application fee and the application process is completely online this year. NOTE: If you are interested in this event, Mr. Bowers needs to know ASAP. The application requires a recording to be made and sent in, and you need to plan your time accordingly to ensure that you are not waiting until the very end.
Recordings are submitted for this event and listened to by a committee. ACDA Honor Choirs are available for anyone in the Milton Choral Program.
If accepted, there are additional fees and travel expenses to Chattanooga. You must be accompanied by a parent to this event, as this is not a Chorus-sposored event. (Mr. Bowers will be attending the event as a conference member, not a chaperone)

Greater Atlanta Girls Choir
GAGC is an auditioned girls choir based in Roswell, GA (North Fulton County).
GAGC consists of girls grades 5 through 12 and includes Tour and Apprentice Choirs
GAGC rehearses throughout the school year from August through May.
The Tour Choir performs throughout the year culminating with a summer tour to varying locations, both national and international.
Each choir performs individually and combined, at two major concerts each year, in the winter and spring.
Each year Milton Students successfully audition for and are accepted into GAGC.
